ABSTRACT
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is a chronic medical condition in which the force of
the blood against the walls of the arteries is consistently too high. Efonidipine hydrochloride ethanoate
is a calcium channel blocker, that inhibits both the L and T-type calcium channels, it exhibits an
antihypertensive effect. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic. Chlorthalidone improves blood
pressure and swelling by preventing water absorption from the kidneys by inhibiting Na+/Cl- in the
distal convoluted tubule cells in the kidney. This review consolidates the analytical methods, for
the estimation of Efonidipine Hydrochloride Ethanoate and Chlorthalidone individually or in
combination with other drugs. Various analytical techniques like HPLC, UV, HPTLC, and LC-MS
methods have been reported for the estimation of the prescribed drugs.
