BENZOPYRAN: A BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SCAFFOLD Authors: Maurya S , SINGH K*, HASAN SM, KUSHWAHA S, KUMAR A, SUVAIV, YADAV PK, NISHAD S AND ANAS M
ABSTRACT
Many natural products (including hesperidin, warfarin, and genistein) as well as synthetic products
have the benzopyran ring system. It demonstrates biological features of anticoagulants, anti-HIV,
antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and anti-cancer. chromene moiety can be able of
reacting at the cellular level which results in their diverse functions, which include anticonvulsant,
anti-HIV, antitubercular, anti-HIV, and anti-herbicide. analgesic effect. A vast spectrum of cellular
targets (receptors) interacts with benzopyran derivatives which may be responsible for their
various biological effects. It focuses on research into naturally occurring pyrans as anticancer
medicines. Structure-activity connections, Pharmacological insights give us a deep understanding
of how medications work on a molecular level. The most promising compounds for treating cancer
have certain structures that allow them to fight cancer cells effectively. These compounds can
target different types of cancer cells, and they can work in different ways to kill the cells. These
scaffolds made of pyran promising effects undoubtedly position them at the forefront of
pharmacological research. Therefore, this review aims to highlight the biological importance of
major benzopyran analogues with biological activity.
