MEDICINAL ASPECTS OF CORIANDER SATIVUM LINN Authors: Huzaifa , ASRAN M*, ASHMALATAHOOR A, ASMA AND JUVERYA
ABSTRACT
Coriander sativum is commonly known as dhaniya. It is an annual herb and used as a spice
from ancient time that belongs to Apiaceae family. All parts of this herb are in use as flavoring
agent and/or as traditional remedies for the treatment of different disorders in the folk medicine
systems of different civilizations. Methanolic extract of Coriander sativum (coriander) seeds
was analyzed for the presence of various antioxidants; ascorbate, riboflavin, tocopherol,
polyphenols and in vitro antioxidant potential. Coriander is also well known for its antioxidant,
anti-diabetic, anti-mutagenic, antianxiety and antimicrobial activity.
