ABSTRACT
Salbutamol is a potent anti-asthmatic agent, is a short-acting ?2-adrenergic receptor
agonist act, Salbutamol and terbutaline are similar ?-2 adrenoceptor agonists that are believed to
exert their maximal therapeutic effect through bronchodilation. Stimulation of ?-2 receptors in
airway smooth muscle induces the cyclic AMP (c-AMP) pathway. In the present study, an
attempt has been made to study various analytical methods for determination of salbutamol from
different dosage form, these methods can be successfully applied for determination of
salbutamol. The HPLC, UV, AAS, HPTLC, capillary electroscopic methods are available for
assessment of salbutamol.
