COSMETICS: A BRIEF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT REGULATORY OVERSIGHT IN UNITED STATES Authors: Vikash P* And Koushik Y
ABSTRACT
The use of cosmetic products and their market growth in the United States has been evolved
since the passage of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act in 1938. Cosmetics have an impact
on the global economy as well as the social life freedom of people all over the world. Since
the Decades, the cosmetics industry and the U.S.FDA have struggled with laws, legislations,
guidance & regulations over cosmetics to ensure the safety, quality, and efficacy of products
intended to use by consumers. Cosmetics in the United States are governed less strictly than
drugs and do not require FDA notice or premarket authorization. Cosmetic manufacturers on
the contrary are needed to prove the safety of their products before releasing them to the
market. This manuscript attempts to examine the extant regulatory position of cosmetic
products, clinical advancement, registration, marketing, and approvals in the United States
excluding children’s cosmetics, Soaps, and OTC drug products.
