A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY TO ASSESS THE COGNITIVE STYLE AMONG THE NURSING TEACHER WORKING IN SELECTED NURSING INSTITUTE OF VADODARA GUJARAT (WITH A VIEW TO IMPROVE THE COGNITIVE PROCESS)

ABSTRACT
Background: Cognitive style or “thinking style” is a concept used in cognitive psychology to describe the individuals think, perceive and remember information. In the areas of education and management it remains a major concept. So it is necessary for the teacher to have awareness of cognitive style The proper training and preparation of nursing teachers regarding cognitive style are essential because teaching is a highly professional job. Understanding strength and weakness of cognitive function among the nursing teachers eventually will help them to provide quality education. Aim: The aim of study was to assess the cognitive style among the nursing teacher working in selected Nursing Institute. Material & methods: The non-experimental descriptive and non probability purposive sampling technique was adopted. 291 samples have been recruited based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data was collected by using alert cognitive style scale. Data was obtained from social platform such as gmail, whatsapp, facebook. Collected data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Based on the analysis result shows that majority of nursing teachers were belongs to middle brain dominants 199 (68.4%), 66 (22.7%) were belongs to left brain dominant and 26(8.9%) were belongs to right brain dominant. Conclusion: The present study concluded majority of the nursing teachers belongs to middle mid brain dominant. Keywords: Cognitive style, Nursing teachers, Nursing institutes
