ABSTRACT

A novel method for the synthesis of 1-(4-Chloro-phenyl)-5-phenyl-pent-1-en-3-one substituted chalcone via aldol condensation is introduced. In the presence of H2SO4 as a catalyst, Various substituted chalcones are synthesized by aldol condensation. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. Key words: Chalcone, Aldol condensation, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR
