ABSTRACT
number of advancements have been made in the medication delivery system in order to accomplish the aims of improved efficacy and cost effectiveness in therapy. The microsponge drug delivery system, which provides controlled release and site specific administration of active components, is one of the most recent, innovative, and rapidly emerging technologies. Microspheres with a size range of 5-300m that are strongly crosslinked, porous, and polymeric. Due to qualities such as reduced side effects, increased stability, better formulation flexibility, and enhanced product performance, this system is emerging as an useful choice for topical drug administration. It has a wide range of uses in the administration of oral, topical, ophthalmic, and biopharmaceuticals. Microsponge technology is described in depth, including formulation techniques, assessment, programmable release mechanisms, and applications. Keywords: Microsponges; Controlled release; Quasi emulsion solvent diffusion; Programmable drug release; Oral administration; Topical drug delivery
